Not that she ever really strayed too far from the Versace aesthetic of attention-getting clothes for party girls, celebrities and the occasional rebellious socialite, but with this collection Donatella is making a firm and solid declaration of what Versace has always been about. With its baroque designs and heavy gold Medusa buttons, classic Versace, her brother's Versace, is being referenced, but with modern twists. We love the military-inspired coats and dresses with gold hardware. Also love the ornate curlicuing tulip appliqué, but we're not all that crazy about the more snake-like appliqué on some of the pieces. Love the dramatic purple and yellow, as well as the cute little calf-length boots. It's all very Versace and very Donatella; sexy and loud and fierce.
