Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring 2011 Collection

She certainly can cancan.

Jean Paul Gaultier never fails to indulge in his sense of fun when presenting his haute couture collections. The names of each look that walked the runway (because of course they all had names):
"The Clash," "Belle Epoque," "Anarchy in the U.K," "No Future," "La Goulue," told a punk-rock-meets-Moulin-Rouge tale. Mohawks and Toulouse-Lautrec. How very JPG; very French with a rock and roll twist. And how very JPG to play with traditional gender roles by sending androgynous Aussie model Andrej Pejic down the runway in a wedding dress for the finale. Lots of ruffles, tulle (in a cancan kinda way, another example of dance-inspired elements this season) and strong silhouettes provide the drama. We particularly like the sheer, layered pieces.
